Reliable Auto Body was started by Lloyd Remington and Louis Schechter in 1926 in a
one-room store at 11 North 10th Street in Allentown (Phone 2-9446). The business
originally known as Reliable Auto Body and Radiator Works was located at 720 Union
Street, in Allentown from 1930 to 1973.
In 1956, Ralph Schatz, a friend, and John B. Ortelli, an employee became members of
the business and the corporation was formed; John Ortelli’s three sons, John Jr., Albert
and Richard, worked in the shop at the time. In 1973, the business relocated to its
present location at 967 Sumner Avenue, Whitehall, and control succeeded to the three
brothers.
In 1999, Louis J. Ortelli, John Jr’s son, took control of the business and continues to
run it today.
We can handle all of your collision repairs, including unibody and frame work, light
mechanical repairs and state inspections.
Our modus operandi is to go above and beyond, generation after generation, to satisfy
our customers.
Today Reliable Auto Body is run by Lou Ortelli with the help of Ashley Ortelli and Pat
Mittl assisting in the office. Lou himself has over 35 years experience in various facets
of the collision repair industry, and is utilizing all of his knowledge and skills to operate
Reliable Auto Body today. Ultimately we all work together in order to achieve our modus
operandi.
